How to Setup or Use your tabletennisweb Email Address Using a Web Browser

To get your free email box please contact Paul Bronstein.  Please include the requested email name (i.e. part of email address to the left of the  @tabletennisweb.com).  You can also request what the password will initially be set to.

Once you have been notified that this has been setup and you have been given your password, you can  go to your email control panel by going to the web address

    http://tabletennisweb.com/webmail

You will be asked for your user name and password.  Your user name is your full email address.  When entering this user name you can replace the @ symbol with a + or % symbol if that is easier.  Most computers will allow the values to be remembered so you don't have to keep typing it in.  If for any reason the above address doesn't work, see the bottom of this section for alternative addresses.

In the control centre you have options to perform the following:
  • Change  your password.
  • Setup  Automatic Forwarding.  Here, you can setup your email so that all of your received email can be sent to one or more other email addresses.
  • Setup an Autoresponder.  Here you can setup your email to automatically send a response email to any received email.  This can be useful when you go on holidays etc.
  • Setup Boxtrapper.  This gives you additional capabilities to fight Spam.  Note that your email already has Spam Assassin setup on it to notify you of which emails are thought to be Spam and to allow you to handle Spam.  As a consequence, these additional capabilities should not be needed for most users.    In particular, the use of the White List is not recommended unless you have special circumstances such as needing to advertise your email address in the open on the Internet.    The extra capabilities include the following:
    • The White List allows you to configure so that senders have to reply to a confirmation request email.
    • Ability to look at the log and queue so that you can see the email that has been received but not confirmed etc.
    • The Ignore List allows you to configure a set of From email addresses or Headers where you want the email to simply be deleted.
    • The Black List is similar to the white list except that the sender of the email is informed that the email is being ignored.
  • Ability to logout
  • Ability to change to a secure session.  A secure session uses encryption so that no one between you and the email host can observe what you are reading or writing.  Note that to use this you will probably have to accept that the name on the SSL certificate doesn't match the current web name.  This is part of using a shared certificate.
  • Ability to read and create email.  This panel gives you the choice of three different programs that you can use for your email. The first time you use these programs they may ask for some setup information.  The email programs are as follows:
    • Neomail.  This is the simplest of the programs but has the least features.
    • horde.
    • Squirrel Mail.
PLEASE NOTE:  Your User Name is your complete email address.

Note:  Alternative addresses for accessing the Web Mail Panel are as follows:

      http://66.235.161.87:2095

or for direct access to a secure session:
     http://66.235.161.87:2096

How to Access your tabletennisweb Email Address Using an Email Client Program

Typical Email Client Programs are Outlook Express, Eudora and Netscape Mail.  These programs allow you to download the email to your own computer and read the email offline.

To setup an Email Client to read Email use the following settings:

  • Mail Server Type:  POP3
  • Incoming Mail Server Address:  mail.tabletennisweb.com
  • Account Name:  Your full tabletennisweb.com email address
  • Password: as supplied or as setup using the browser email control panel

There are two different methods to setup an email client program to send email.  The most efficient is to set it up to simply use the local Internet Service Provider's email facilities.  Your local ISP will give you the settings for this.   Note: If you are using your client to read from more than one email box then you can continue to use the original send settings for all email boxes.

Should you wish to use tabletennisweb.com for sending email then you can use the following settings:

  • Outgoing (SMTP) mail server address:  mail.tabletennisweb.com
  • SMTP Authentication: Needs to be enabled
Note:  The authentication that needs to be enabled is authentication for sending mail, not authentication for reading mail or both.

How to use your Free TableTennis WebSite for Clubs and Associations

When we setup the subdomain for your Club or Association we also setup ftp  access for you to download the web pages with.  We will inform you when it has been setup and give you a password to access it.

Settings you need to setup your ftp client are as follows:

Host Name:  tabletennisweb.com
(or IP address of  66.235.161.87 )
User Name:   subdomain@tabletennisweb.com
where subdomain is the Club or Association Name used for your Subdomain Name.
Password:  As supplied
Ensure that Anonymous is not selected.
Account Name should be left blank
Remaining settings should be left in their default state
    for example:  Host type:  automatic
           Port: 21

When you first log in you will be in the  /  (forward slash) directory.  This is the directory to load your homepage into.  You can create subdirectories and load other files as required but remember that no Video Streaming is allowed.  The homepage should be renamed to index.htm or index.html

The web host has been setup so that all  .htm pages  (but not .html) pages will act as .shtml pages.  That is, .htm pages will be scanned for  SSI include statements and similar before being sent.  Note that this only applies to .htm and not .html pages.  If you are not using SSI statements in your HTML then use .html as your extension.

The raw access logs for your subdomain are available from the following ftp address:

ftp://ftp.tabletennisweb.com/subdomain.tabletennisweb.com
where subdomain is the Club or Association Name used for your Subdomain Name.

A large range of facilities are available for your web site.  These include a large range of scripts.  For example, access is available to all the scripts in fantastico.  For any Web facility you need please contact Ken Dawber.

To request your free web site please email Paul Bronstein and include in the email the subdomain name (clubname or part of address to the left of tabletennisweb.com) that you would like for your website.
